ONU Wins at Home vs Defiance

It took the Polar Bears a few minutes to get started, but once they did, the gates opened. ONU came into the game at 5-3-1 after playing a very hard non-conference schedule in September. Defiance opened up the scoring early and snuck one past the ONU defense to make it 1-0. ONU kept the pressure and Jamie Eiben found the net for ONU's 1st goal of the match off an assist from Kaitlin Sanders. Eiben has been battling a leg injury for the last 2 weeks and came back strong with 2 goals yesterday. Natalie White capped off the scoring in the 1st half, receiving a pass from freshman Christina Spinaris inside the penalty area at the far post.

The 2nd half proved to be too much for the visiting team as ONU put in 5 more goals to end the match at 7-1. Goals were scored by Freshman Katie Kinkelaar, Senior Christina Haley (the 1st of her career), Jamie Eiben (her 2nd of the game), and freshman Kim McGowan found the net for her 1st career goal as a Polar Bear. Assists were given to Kaitlin Sanders, Christina Spinaris, Angie Pisut, Kim McGowan, Katie Kinkelaar, and Christina Haley.

It was a great match before ONU begins conference play this Friday when the team travels to Muskingum College. Thank you again for all your support through the month of September! We hope you can continue to support the team as they attempt to win the Ohio Athletic Conference for the 2nd season in a row.
