2012 Season Preview

While the summer is cooling off, things are beginning to heat up at ONU. Pre season for the defending OAC Champions begins next week, August 17th. Still hungry from last season’s record breaking year, the team is looking to reach new heights in 2012 with a large returning group and a talented incoming class.

The Polar Bears open up their 2012 season against first time opponent Grove City (PA) on August 31st.  Quickly following, ONU will also host 2011 NCAA tournament participant Case Western on September 2nd.  The following weekend the Polar Bears will hit the road to the Wooster Invitational to take on The Scots and Earlham College.  The rest of the non conference schedule will put ONU to the test as they take on NCAC Champions Ohio Wesleyan, as well as Mount St. Joseph, and regional rivals Denison, Thomas More, and Wittenberg.

The Polar Bears will open OAC action as they host Mount Union on September 29th. On October 13th, ONU will celebrate Parent’s Day as well as the Annual “Kicks for a Cause” Fundraiser as they host the Pioneers from Marietta College. The following weekend, the Polar Bears will host John Carroll on Senior Day for a rematch of their 2011 tournament semifinal upset. October 20th will also celebrate “Soccer Alumni Weekend” for both the ONU men’s and women’s soccer programs. The day will include a youth clinc for our alumni and family in the morning as well as a post game alumni social hosted at the Alumni House on campus. ONU will wrap up OAC play with a road match at Muskingum College on October 27th at 1pm.

The remainder of the 2012 schedule can be found online at ONUSports.com. Our sights are set on another OAC Championship and as well as returning to the NCAA National Tournament for the third time in four seasons. Looking forward to seeing you all in the stands this fall as this should be a great season of Polar Bear soccer!
