Meet the Polar Bears

With a new season, brings new faces into the polar bear family. In order to get to know your 2010 Polar Bears we will be featuring a few players each week in our blog. You might know who they are, but do you know their favorite movie quote? Well the ONU blog is here to shed some light on those crucial nuggets of information. To kick off, we would like to introduce Senior Mary Anne Ventura, Junior Chelsea Chadwick, and Freshman Lauren Brown!

Why did you choose ONU?
I was looking for a small school where I could study pharmacy and play soccer.. And I found it!

What is your most memorable moment @ ONU so far?
Making it to the NCAA tournament for the first time in ONU Women's Soccer history last season.

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?
I love how close our team is. Most of my best friends are my teammates and I know that I can count on them for anything. I also like that we're all really good at catchphrase and charades.

What is your favorite sport, other than soccer?
To play, basketball. To watch, either basketball or football.

What word describes you the best?
Caring.

What is one surprising fact that not many people know about you?
I was the center on my sixth grade basketball team. And I haven’t grown since then.

What is your favorite Movie (include movie quote!)
Up! and my favorite quote is either “I have just met you, and I love you.” or “I was hiding under your porch because I love you.” or “Won’t you please by my prisoner, please please please!” all by Dug, the sweetest animated dog EVER.

What food couldn’t you live without?
Pasta!

Stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you take?
Duct tape, butane lighters, and my turtle Franklin.

Why did you choose ONU?
I love how ONU has small classes because it gives students a chance to become close with their teachers. I also wanted to continue playing soccer because it is my passion and liked the fact that the nursing program is direct acceptance and you don't have to deal with prenursing classes for the first year and then try to get accepted.

What is your most memorable moment at ONU so far?
My most memorable moment this year was going to NCAA's for soccer and beating Capital during the season.

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?
I love how close our team has become and the fact that I could go to any teammate for help or support if I needed to.

What food couldn't you live without?
I could not live without ice cream (my favorite kind is moose tracks)!!!!!!!!

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would pay off school loans, buy a sweet truck and a brand new boat with a wakeboard tower, buy a brand new house, hire a chef to make me delicious treats, buy my own personal jet to travel wherever I want, and pay Lil Wayne to hangout with me for a day!

What song has the most plays on your ipod right now?
"Love the way you lie" by Eminem from his new album "Recovery".

What is your favorite movie (include movie quote!)
Superbad is one of my favorite movies of all time! One of my favorite quotes of the movie is:
(SETH) "I'm over here in my unit, isolated and alone, eating my terrible tasting food, and I have to look over at that. That looks like the most fun I've ever seen in my entire life, and it's B.S. - excuse my language. I'm just saying that I wash and dry; I'm like a single mother. Look, we all know home-ec is a joke - no offense - it's just that everyone takes this class to get an A,- and I'm sorry. I'm not putting down your profession, but it's just the way I feel. I don't want to sit here, all by myself, cooking this food - no offense - and I just think that I don't need to cook tiramisu.
Am I going to be a chef? No. There's three weeks left of school, give me a break! I'm sorry for cursing."

What is one surprising fact that not many people know about you?
I can play the piano and used to take dance lessons.

Why did you choose ONU?
My grandpa was a Polar Bear, and when he showed me around campus for the first time I knew it was the right school for me. I also wanted to play soccer and still get a solid education.

What is your most memorable moment @ ONU so far?
So far my best memory was at recruit night when the entire team played charades. I have never laughed so hard in my life.

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?
Even though I haven’t play ONU soccer yet, it seems like everyone is really close and I cannot wait to be a part of the team!

Where would you like to be in 5 years?
In five years I would like to be married and live in a cute little house with a white fence. I would like to work at Nike and design a new line of clothes and shoes.

What would you do if you won the lottery?
I would buy my own private jet and travel the world with my friends and family.

What is one surprising fact that not many people know about you?
I’m afraid of all clowns and mascots especially Ronald McDonald.

What food couldn’t you live without?
Ice cream.
