ONU Wins To Honor Their Seniors On Homecoming

ONU Women's Soccer had a great result this past Saturday as they defeated John Carroll 2-0 on Senior Day and Homecoming. Just prior to the match, the women's soccer team honored their seniors and their parents. Each senior walked out with their parents as the following message from Coach Batman was read:
"Amy Endres
Amy has started 49 of the 52 games she has played though her junior season. She has tallied 2 game winning goals with 2 assists, giving her 6 total points of her career.
Amy was unfortunately sidelined this season and was unable to play, but her personality and great sense of humor still surround us daily. Amy brings that something special to a team; she’s a person who stands behind her teammates and someone you can depend on when things are tough. Her personality is one of her best qualities and she has really added to our chemistry over the years.

Christina Haley
Christina has played in 21 games and started 5 games in her career. She has 1 goal and 2 assists for a total of 4 points. Her first collegiate goal was scored this past season against Defiance College.
What can you say about Haley; she’s inspiring, motivating, always smiling, and a true definition of the word “teammate.” In all my years of coaching, I don’t recall coming across a better teammate than Christina. Her desire to keep the “team first” mentality amazes me daily and she will be sorely missed in the years to come.

Jenn Klag
Jenn has played in 64 games while making 13 starts throughout her career. She has tallied 6 goals and 10 assists for a total of 22 points.
Jenn has brought many different things to this program. She is an extremely versatile player and has been a key factor in our team’s success in the last 3 seasons. No matter the role she is playing, she plays it the best she can, always willing to learn and contribute to the team.

Kristin Reininger
Kristin has started in every single game ONU has played in her career. She has 1 goal and 6 assists, giving her 8 points for her career. Her first collegiate goal came this season against Ohio Wesleyan University.
Starting every single game in an athlete’s career is a remarkable accomplishment for anyone. From her first game in California as a freshman, I knew we had come across a special player and person. Kristin has been a captain on this team for 2 seasons and has learned a lot in that role. She is an invaluable member to this team for her leadership, experience, and commitment to ONU being the best.

Katie Schaadt
Katie has played in 69 collegiate games and has started 63 of them. She earned her first career goal this past season vs Muskingum College and has tallied 9 assists giving her a total of 11 points for her career.
Katie is one of the most competitive players I have ever had the joy of coaching. She gives her best daily in training and it reflects in games. She has a great personality and is inspiring to her teammates with her ability on the field, making things happen for us time and time again. Even though she claims she is a “great” forward, I think she is a lot more comfortable in the back!

Erin Stapp
Erin has started 41 of the 68 games she has played in her career. She is 8th all time in scoring with 30 goals; she has 14 career assists and is 8th all time in career points totaling 74.
I’d have to say, I’m not sure who’s more competitive, Erin or Katie…When they are on opposite teams, it’s a great battle to watch! But when they are on the same team, it is usually the 2 who are trying to get the best out of their teammates. Erin is a very determined player; when she has her mind set on something, it’s going to happen. She has given this team a lot of great memories over the years, whether it’s a game winning goal, or a VERY random question to puzzle the coaching staff…Erin’s personality is a huge asset to this team and I’ve loved coaching her over the years.

To all the Seniors and Parents
Thank you so much for the sacrifices you have made to make this program what it is today. You have given up so much to be a part of this team and you are a great representative of what Ohio Northern Women’s Soccer has become. Thank you so much for your support of your daughters and their teammates. Please join us in thanking the Seniors of the 2008 ONU Women’s Soccer Team."

The Women's soccer team dominated a majority of the match, gaining their second consecutive shutout. ONU is now 10-4-1 overall and tied for 2nd in the OAC at 4-1. ONU is at Heidelberg College Tuesday evening at 7p. Thank you to all who continue to support our players!
