ONU Advances to 2-1 In OAC Play

The Polar Bears won a hard fought match Saturday afternoon in Ada, OH against the Mt. Union Purple Raiders. ONU got off to a quick start as Erin Stapp beat her defender to the end line and found a waiting Jamie Eiben who notched her 4th goal of the season. ONU kept the pressure on as Natalie White took a pass past her defender and found Katie Kinkelaar who slid her 8th goal of the season past the Mount goal keeper. ONU took the 2-0 lead into halftime but Mt. Union would rally back to score 2 goals.
The Polar Bears kept their composure as Junior Jamie Eiben found fellow Junior Angie Pisut just minutes before regulation. Angie got behind the defense and rolled the ball past the keeper to give ONU the win with just over 3 minutes to go.
It was a very dominating performance by the Polar Bears, out shooting the visitors by 30 shots. "With as many chances as we had to put the game away, its unfortunate we didn't do it earlier. The team showed a lot of character to keep their composure after being tied. They didn't look back and dwell on the goals given up, but continued to attack and put the Raiders under pressure, eventually getting the 3rd goal. We have to learn from this game and look ahead to a tough Baldwin Wallace team this Wednesday", says Head Coach Mark Batman.
The team is playing well and getting better with each game. Thank you to all the parents who were able to join us for Parent's Day yesterday, we appreciate your support!

Congratulations to the team for grinding out the win...eventually... And thanks to the coach and staff, for organizing parents day. It is always a great feeling when I walk on to a football field, but it's very special to do so with my daughter.... Good luck this week...
