Meet The Polar Bears; Part 7

With all of the excitement of the overtime madness last week, the 7th edition of MTPB somehow didn't get posted. Have no fear, the Polar Bear blog is here to catch you up to speed. Even more good news, this week will now feature two, count 'em two, editions of MTPB! The first of this week will feature junior Christina Spinaris, Sophomore Rachel Wright, and Freshman Sami Atkinson. Stay tuned for the next posting this week!

Christina Spinaris, #18, Colden, NY
Why did you choose ONU?
I chose ONU because it had everything I wanted: pharmacy, a small school, and soccer. I could be in a professional program that is highly reputable, a small school so that professors would know who I am, and a soccer team that I could play with and enjoy. ONU was the perfect fit for me.

What is your most memorable moment @ ONU so far?
Going to the NCAA tournament last year

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?
Teammates. I would never have had the college experience I’ve had without them; they have become a second family at ONU.

What is your favorite sport, other than soccer?
Hockey, specifically the Buffalo Sabres

What would you do if you won the lottery?
Pay off my loans, boring I know

What is your favorite Movie (include movie quote!)
Cadet Kelly
“Once a maggot, always a maggot”

What food couldn’t you live without?
Sahlen’s hotdogs

Stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you take?
A plane, a pilot, and a first class ticket home

Rachel Wright, #13, Celina, OH

Why did you choose ONU?
I chose ONU for the Athletic Training program, but the campus and the soccer team are two amazing bonuses.

What is your most memorable moment at ONU?

I would say my most memorable moment so far is when we made it to the NCAAs. When we found out we ran through the dorms screaming that we made it to everyone.

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?

My favorite thing is having the weirdest team. Which, in turn, make soccer season the best time of the school year.

Where would you like to be in 5 years?
I would like to either be in graduate school for Athletic Training, or have a job in Athletic Training that will help pay for grad. school.

Who on the team would you take with you on a cross country road trip? Why?

Most players on the team would not find this surprising, but I would take Molly Kulp. She has become my best friend here at ONU, and it doesn’t look like that's going to change anytime soon.

What food couldn't you live without?
I absolutely love mashed potatoes and Macaroni & cheese! Especially when they are mixed together!

Stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you take?

Granted there was some kind of service, I would take my cell phone; to get myself off of course. I would bring my sketch book. I like to draw when I just need to think. I would bring clothes of some sort. Because, well face it, no one wants to make clothes out of a forest.

What song has the most plays on your ipod right now?

Unapologize by Carrie Underwood. She is an amazing singer and her music is easy to love.

Sami Atkinson, #17, Hilliard, OH

It is a great school and I got along really well with the team!

What is your most memorable moment @ ONU so far?
Meeting all the girls for the first time!

What is your favorite thing about ONU soccer?
Everyone on the team seems to genuinely care about each other!

Where would you like to be in 5 years?
I would like to be working as a nurse at Children’s Hospital.

Basketball

What word describes you the best?
Easy going

Ipod, lots and lots of food, and of course a soccer ball!
