The 2009 Ohio Northern University Women’s soccer schedule looks to be just as challenging as in 2008. The Polar Bears are returning 16 varsity players, all who saw action in 2008. The team looks to improve from last season’s 14-5-1 record and make history by going to the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in the history of the women’s soccer program.
ONU will first travel to Defiance College on September 1st. Following their opening match, the Polar Bears will host the ONU Soccer Classic on September 4th and 5th. Visiting teams are Otterbein College, Kalamazoo College, and Calvin College. ONU and Otterbein will both be playing Kalamazoo and Calvin College. The following weekend, ONU will travel to DePauw to play Centre College (KY) and DePauw University; both are members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. On September 16th, the Polar Bears will travel to Wittenberg University and finishing up the week at home vs. Hope College. Tuesday the 22nd, Mount Saint Joseph will travel to Ada at 4p and they will finish up the week as the team heads to Case Western Reserve on the following Saturday. The last week of September is just as challenging as it ever has been, playing Denison University just before conference play begins with Muskingum College coming to Ada on Saturday, October 3rd.
