ONU Beats Wilmington 4-0 To Advance

The Polar Bears had an outstanding performance today in Ada as they topped #3 Wilmington 4-0 in the OAC Semi Finals. Freshman Katie Kinkelaar started the scoring late in the first half as she took a cross inside the box, turned, and shot past the keeper from 15 yards out. ONU took the 1-0 lead into the break.
Senior Erin Stapp then gained her 10th and 11th goals of the season just a few minutes into the 2nd half. Her 10th goal came off a corner kick that was cleared directly at her and went in. Her 11th goal was a result from a tremendous second effort off a through pass to beat the final defender to the ball and tuck it past the keeper. Senior Jenn Klag scored the team's 4th goal of the match late in the 2nd half off a well timed pass from conference assist leader Kaitlin Sanders.
ONU now plays the regular season champion Otterbein College on Saturday at 2p in Westerville in the OAC Tournament Final. The tournament champion gets the automatic qualifier to the NCAA National Tournament. This marks the second consecutive season the Polar Bears have made the tournament final. Thanks to all who made the game and supported our team. We hope you can all make the finals on Saturday!
